Nottingham Lions have announced that they intend to remain in NIHL Division Two North for the forthcoming 2013/14 season.

The Lions were crowned league champions back in March after finishing five points clear of their nearest promotion rival but they have decided to decline their option to make the step-up to NIHL Division One hockey this coming September.

Whitley Warriors took on Telford Titans in their last home game of the 2012/13 season on Sunday evening. Whitley’s squad was missing several experienced performers as senior goaltenders Richie Lawson and Liam McAllister were both unavailable while the Warriors were also without their experienced defensive duo of Simon Hehir and Garry Dowd, who were both ruled out due to injury.

Stuart Potts continues his ascent into the longevity elite as far as the Guildford Flames ice hockey club is concerned. The 5'7", 175lb forward will become just the 4th player in team history to ice a 10th season at the side. During their repeat 'double', the 31 year old crossed the 500 game barrier while scoring 6 goals and 15 assists to bring his career club total to 357 points from 107 goals and 250 assists. Including his best offensive season, when he had 77 points during the 2007-2008 league title run, the Durham native ranks 11th on the team's historical offensive charts, just 24 points back of a top 10 slot.
