Whitley Warriors head coach Simon Leach has announced that he will step down from his current role with the club at the end of the current campaign. Simon has had two spells behind the bench at Hillheads as well as a long, illustrious playing career with the club.

Warriors travelled down to Yorkshire to take on Sheffield Spartans on Saturday afternoon. Whitley were without a number of players due to injuries however both Martin Crammond and Callum Queenan came back into the squad after missing last weekend's game against Sutton Sting.

Whitley Warriors played their second challenge game of the 2014/15 season on Sunday evening when Aberdeen Lynx travelled down to Tyneside for the first ever match between the two sides. Whitley Warriors travelled up to the Scottish borders for the NIHL Moralee Conference Play Off Semi Final against Solway Sharks on Saturday afternoon. Due to expansion in community sports provision at Silver Blades an exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time Ice Hockey Coach / Community Development Officer in the North West.

The successful candidate will work alongside existing coaches, volunteers and staff, ensuring that the best opportunities are available to produce ice hockey players of the highest possible level and to ensure that everyone in the local community has the opportunity to play ice hockey and its Paralympic variant, Sledge Hockey.

An Interview with Holly Cornford

 Holly Cornford has managed to keep herself busy in her 11-year hockey career which started with the Grimsby Ghosts at Under 12 level and most recently as captain of the Winter Student Games in Italy. Along the way she has iced for her country at U18 and senior level, and has a current home with the captaincy of the Kingston Diamonds in the Women's Premier League
