Warriors appoint legend Longstaff as player coach

Whitley Warriors are delighted to announce that former GB international David Longstaff who has won over 100 caps for his country has been appointed as the clubs new player/coach. Longstaff began his career with Whitley back in 1989 when he first appeared for Warriors in a competitive match up in the old British League as a teenager.

Warriors travelled down to Yorkshire to take on Sheffield Spartans on Saturday afternoon. Whitley were without a number of players due to injuries however both Martin Crammond and Callum Queenan came back into the squad after missing last weekend's game against Sutton Sting.

Whitley Warriors played their second challenge game of the 2014/15 season on Sunday evening when Aberdeen Lynx travelled down to Tyneside for the first ever match between the two sides. Whitley Warriors travelled up to the Scottish borders for the NIHL Moralee Conference Play Off Semi Final against Solway Sharks on Saturday afternoon. Warriors coach Simon Leach was able to choose from an extensive roster given that the only players missing from the Whitley line up were defencemen Nathan Ryder and Callum Read.
